Privacy Policy for Focus Breaker
Last updated: May 21, 2026
Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy details how **Focus Breaker** operates and confirms our commitment to keeping your data secure and private.
1. 100% Local Processing & Offline Storage
Focus Breaker is designed to operate entirely locally within your Google Chrome browser context. It runs completely offline without sending any data over the internet.
- **No External Server Communication**: Your configurations, active timers, and list of blocked websites never leave your computer.
- **Local Storage Only**: All user configurations and domain lists are saved exclusively in your browser's secure local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
2. Data Collection & Transmission
We do not collect, store, track, sell, or transmit any user data. Specifically:
- We do **not** collect personal identification details (name, email, etc.).
- We do **not** track your browsing history or compile web analytics.
- We do **not** use cookies or trackers.
3. Explanation of Browser Permissions
To perform its single function of blocking distracting websites, the extension requests the following permissions:
- storage: Required to save and persist your focus sessions and block lists on your computer.
- alarms: Required to track session durations in the background so you are redirected accurately when your focus time ends.
- tabs: Required to check the URL of the active browser tab when you click enable to see if a blocked site is running.
- declarativeNetRequest: Required to intercept navigation to restricted domains and redirect you safely to the local blocked breathing page.
- notifications: Required to alert you with a desktop notification when a focus block timer has successfully completed.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page.
